About Us

The Geauga Amish Historical Library was founded in 2014, with the mission of "Increasing awareness of Amish and Anabaptist history through the collection, preservation and presentation of items relating to Amish, Mennonite and Anabaptist history, with a special focus on the Amish settlement in Geauga County and northeastern Ohio.

The Geauga Amish Historical Library (GAHL) has books and documents relating to Anabaptist history dating to the16th century, as well as clothing, artifacts, reference and genealogy books, journals, magazines, and other materials documenting the history of the Amish. The GAHL welcomes visitors, whether individuals or groups.

The GAHL is seeking donations to help defray operating expenses, such as rent, utilities and maintenance. The GAHL is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dependent on volunteers, donations and revenue generated through sale of printed material, gift shop, as well as other resources.
